Dear Chris and Robin,
Glad to see you back in the States. We enjoyed our time with you guys. Question. Are you experiencing a candy stripe rust pattern on all your rigging? Please email me yes or no. Side by Side’s rig is 3 months old and every foot of it has this pattern. Help. Thanks, Marc
Marc,
Sorry for long delay. We’re just getting used to using the blog. As for the rust we don’t seem to have that issue. There is a fair amount of rust at the bottom of the wire just above the crimped on connectors but I’ve compared this to several other boats and it seems pretty normal. On the stanchions and rails we do have some rust stains that were pretty easy to remove with cleaner and we ‘re trying a couple of different things to prevent them in the future. It looks like Poly Glow for SS is the best so far.
I hope this helps and I’d appreciate hearing from you if you find out more about this issue. SS has been a huge problems in recent years with low quality imitations of various grades from China and eastern Europe. Even some of the best suppliers have been duped on this.
Regards,
Chris
